Letter from Our Head Mistress
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am delighted to welcome you to Archbishop Tenison’s School. Founded over 300 years ago by Thomas Tenison, Archbishop of Canterbury, the School has continued to provide a high quality education for boys aged 11 – 19, with girls admitted in the Sixth Form. As a centre for learning, academic success takes place within a stimulating and happy environment, supported by parents, which encourages full development of abilities, personality and talents.
Our staff are highly motivated and committed in enabling boys to pursue excellence. High attainment, self-confidence and co-operation are cultivated here. Each student is unique and has something special to contribute. As a Church of England School, we are equally committed to moral and spiritual well-being and academic achievement. Worship and prayer are at the heart of our community and our Chaplain supports and encourages boys to explore Christian ideals so that they are fully prepared for life in an increasingly technological, multi-faith and multicultural society.
Archbishop Tenison’s School is committed to excellence. Our curriculum is designed to offer a broad range of subjects, to encourage independent learning and to provide a wealth of opportunities for students to experience outside school. We expect the highest standards of work, dress, behaviour, attendance and punctuality. Working in partnership with parents, we provide a firm framework within which all students have the chance to excel and achieve.
The School has enjoyed exceptional examination success year on year and now has the best examination results for boys in Lambeth:
GCSE results Summer 2010: 78% A* - C
62% with English and Maths
Art 97% A* - C
